Saara and Giovanni: The Wedding

(istruzioni per l’uso)

Flights

The most convenient airport is Bologna (BLQ), for which there are direct Finnair flights and good connection also with Lufthansa and KLM, for example.

Other possible airports include Forlì, Rimini, and Venezia.

From the Airport to Forlì

If you fly to Bologna, you can reach the train station (note that in Italy each train station can be shortened to “FS”=”Ferrovie dello Stato”) of Bologna using the Marconi Express or buses. Marconi Express is more expensive but more straightforward.

From Bologna train station to Forlì, you can travel using either one of these two train companies: Italo or Trenitalia. The cheapest option is to use Trenitalia "Regional" trains.

If you decide to fly to Rimini, Venezia or directly to Forlì, let me know and I will add more details here.

Interrails instead of flight

If you choose the adventure of Interrails, there is a route from Stockholm to Bologna with only one change in Amsterdam. Let me know if you want me to add more information here.

Transportation between Forlì and Forlimpopoli

There is the bus line 92 that travels regularly between the two cities. We are also organising some vans to carry the “Finns” around during the wedding: from the hotel to the church and to the wedding venue.

Accommodation

Forlimpopoli has no hotels and the closest ones are in Forlì. We checked around and we found three options to help you organise your accommodation:

  • Hotel Masini
Corso G. Garibaldi, 28, 47121 Forlì (FC), Italy

City tax: 2€ per person, per night, up to a maximum of 5 consecutive nights (meaning, 10€ max).
Rough prices: 130-135€ for triple rooms, 90-95€ for double rooms, 80-85€ for single rooms.
Note: No kitchen, but arrangements with local bars and restaurants. Note more: the hotel is open to some discount, the easiest way to get it would probably be for people to book as a group.

Not all options include breakfast, but all the hotels are in the Forlì center and there are many cafes around (a "kahvila" in Finnish is called "bar" in Italian), where you can get pastries, coffee and more.

Programme

16:00 Mass and Wedding at the church San Pietro in Forlimpopoli.

18:00 Buffet and Dinner at Azienda Agricola Palazzo Manzoni in San Zaccaria.

Dress Code

We got asked what people should wear to the wedding so we had to come up with some guidelines! An Italian wedding tends to be quite elegant. While we don’t want to limit your fashion choices, shorts and slippers are strictly forbidden! ;-)

The wedding party will generally be in formal wedding attire. For men, a classic suit is ideal, usually a tie, although the heat is a perfectly good reason to take it off. For women, formal evening wear is recommended, including floor-length gowns, knee-length dresses or evening pantsuits (it would be better not to wear white, as that will be the colour of the bride). Among the ladies who wear heels, an unofficial trick is to bring a second pair of comfortable shoes and switch to them as the party goes on.
